Your health and safety is our highest priority.
From the moment you accept placement on a Corps program, our professional staff works closely with you, your family and the nominating school or mentoring organization to ensure you are prepared for the safest and most successful summer abroad possible.
Leadership and Experience – Our Founding Directors and overseas partners bring decades of experience running cross-cultural education programs in over 30 countries.
Preparation and Orientation – We will send you detailed information about the host country, a program itinerary, a list of recommended immunizations and vaccinations (if applicable), a packing list, information about your host family and relevant health/safety issues. We are available to speak with you or your parents to discuss travel, spending money, communications with home during the summer and provide answers to any of your questions. We also invite you and your family to participate in a pre-departure orientation prior to program departure.
Insurance – Every student on an SDC International program is covered by worldwide health, accident, emergency and evacuation insurance. This insurance coverage connects you to a global network of care providers and medical experts who are poised to assist in any situation.
Experienced International Partners – Working closely with our local partners, we choose venues that are safe, take advantage of local resources and identify in-country experts, caring host families and professionals to guide learning and cultural immersion. These partners provide a wide network of professional support for you and your Corps Leader throughout the program.
Trained Adult Summer Staff – Carefully selected and rigorously trained Corps Leaders facilitate the program and work closely with you in-country. These responsible adults are selected for their international experience, maturity, experience working with high school students, language ability and preparedness to facilitate the program and work closely with each student. They are active and available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week throughout the summer program.
International Transportation – You will meet your Corps Leader at a gateway airport to ensure safe travel to and from your program country.
Comprehensive Support – Corps staff are available throughout the program to assist your parents and provide guidance to our international partners and summer leadership staff every step of the way.
